Technical swimsuits - or tech suits - have been banned by USA Swimming for swimmers 12-and-younger. Unless a swimmer has qualified for the USA Junior National Championships or National Championships, they cannot be used.
What is a tech suit?
In basic terms, it is a swimsuit that is made specially to appear like it doesn't have seams. In theory, the compression this causes helps a swimmer cut through the water more quickly.
Tech suits tend to be very expensive and it is unclear whether they make a difference at such a young age. They also deteriorate very quickly and lose their competitive advantages after only a few meets. This change will allow you to save your money and not worry about whether the cost is worth it for a competitive edge.
